Pro3000 COMPASS Lite

Description: COMPASS Lite is a shortened version of Valpar's Computerized Assessment (COMPASS) module. COMPASS Lite does the same academic and cognitive skill testing as COMPASS but eliminates the time consuming work samples that are used to assess physical skills. This module is a good choice when testing speed is important and physical skills assessment (motor coordination, manual dexterity, finger dexterity) is not required.

Like COMPASS, COMPASS Lite is a criterion-referenced assessment instrument that uses adaptive testing techniques. It measures various skills as they relate to jobs and training programs, using the rating sytem of the Revised Handbook for Analyzing Jobs and the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, both developed by the U.S. Department of Labor.

COMPASS Lite uses 11 computer-based subtests to assess nine DOT factors - all GEDs and six of the eleven Aptitudes (G, V, N, P, Q, C). All results are gathered directly by the computer and scored automatically. The system is designed to be administered by one evaluator to an individual or small group, and requires about 30 minutes. It can be used on stand-alone computers or Novell compatible networks.

If desired, the evaluator can specify that only certain DOT factors be assessed and COMPASS Lite will determine which of the 11 subtests to administer.

Typical Uses: Assessing individuals from middle school to adult who are making career choices for placement into jobs or training programs. Appropriate for career exploration.
