Description: The Pictorial Interest Survey module assesses a person's vocational interests based on the 12 main categories defined in the U.S. Department of Labor's Guide for Occupational Exploration. These are the same interest categories used in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles.
The module offers two ways to administer the survey. The Forced Choice method presents 66 pairs of occupational pictures, each with a short description. The evaluee must choose one or the other as the most liked or most disliked. The Ranking method presents 72 occupational pictures, each with a short description. The evaluee ranks each picture on a 5-point Likert scale. For each method, the computer totals the results to produce a relative strength ranking of the 12 GOE categories.
The surveys have an audio option. If sound is enabled by the evaluator, the client can click an icon and the computer will speak the instructions and job descriptons.
Typical Uses: Evaluation of individuals from middle school to adult, who are making career choices for placement into jobs or training programs.
